June 05, 2019

The event that sets industry trends will bring together 30 major brands and debate key topics such as technology, sustainability, and artificial intelligence.

The 61st edition of Capital do Móvel is heading to Lisbon, where it will take place from June 12 to 16 at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, setting the year’s furniture and decoration trends. This iconic event will feature 30 leading brands, with expanded exhibition spaces designed to offer visitors a unique experience.

“This is a landmark year for Capital do Móvel, not only because we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the brand that revolutionized the sector, but also because we surpassed 2 billion euros in exports last year,”
said Rita Pacheco, President of the Paços de Ferreira Business Association (AEPF), which organizes the fair.

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, AEPF is taking a bold step towards international markets, which account for 90% of sales. The association aims to launch the “Portuguese Capital of Furniture” campaign to strengthen the brand’s global presence while reinforcing its already solid reputation at the national level.

“40 years later, we are renewing our commitment to the brand, raising the bar, and striving to take the epicenter of Portuguese furniture beyond borders!”
explains Jorge Castro, Vice President of AEPF.

The 61st edition of Capital do Móvel will also include key discussions on the industry’s future, addressing technology, sustainability, and artificial intelligence.

The decorative furniture sector is a pillar of the Paços de Ferreira region, playing a crucial role in positioning Portugal as a leader in the international market. The region boasts a 150-hectare industrial area dedicated to furniture manufacturing, with exports accounting for 60% of the municipality’s total international sales.

At the national level, the sector consists of 4,487 furniture and mattress manufacturing companies, employing approximately 36,268 people.
