Secretary of State for the Economy Presides Over the Country’s Largest Furniture Fair
In a year that marks the 40th anniversary of the Capital do Móvel brand, the event brings together 30 major companies from the sector at Alfândega do Porto. João Rui Ferreira, Secretary of State for the Economy, will be present at the opening session of the 62nd edition of Capital do Móvel, which will take place this Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Alfândega do Porto.
The opening ceremony of Portugal’s largest furniture and decoration fair will be attended by:
António Cunha, President of the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N),
Humberto Brito, Mayor of Paços de Ferreira,
Rita Pacheco, President of the Paços de Ferreira Business Association.
Organized by the Paços de Ferreira Business Association (AEPF), Capital do Móvel runs from September 21 to 29.
As part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations, the event will feature various activities aimed at promoting innovation and fostering new talent in the sector.
Design Exhibition
The “Design Exhibition” will showcase works by students from Escola Profissional de Matosinhos (EPROMAT) and Profisousa.
This exhibition will allow visitors to discover the latest trends in furniture design, with projects presented in physical models and digital formats. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience virtual reality simulations, using VR glasses to visualize furniture pieces in a fully immersive 3D environment.
Design and Innovation Award:
As part of the brand’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, on Friday, September 27, the Design and Innovation Award will be presented to the exhibitor whose furniture piece stands out for its creativity. The winner will be selected by a jury composed of industry experts, representatives from EPROMAT and Profisousa, and the public, through a vote held on AEPF’s social media channels.
Workshops on Sustainability and Financing:
On September 27, Capital do Móvel will host two thematic workshops, providing valuable insights for companies and professionals looking to adapt to future challenges.
- 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Training session on the Decarbonization Roadmap for the furniture sector.
- 2:30 PM: Discussion on financing opportunities to boost industry growth.
Participation is free, but registration is required.
The 62nd edition will showcase 30 leading companies in the sector, presenting the latest trends in furniture design and production. The event is open to the general public with free admission.
