In a year that marks the 40th anniversary of the Capital do Móvel brand, Portugal’s largest and most prestigious furniture and decoration fair will hold its 62nd edition from September 21 to 29 at Alfândega do Porto.
At this event, over 30 major brands will showcase the latest sector trends, offering visitors a unique experience, where exhibitors combine virtual reality with highly sustainable materials.
The Paços de Ferreira Business Association (AEPF), organizer of the fair, highlights that this year’s event is particularly significant as it celebrates 40 years of Capital do Móvel, a pillar of transformation and leadership in the sector. To commemorate this milestone, AEPF is prioritizing the internationalization of the industry through the “Portuguese Capital of Furniture” initiative, aiming to strengthen and expand the presence of Portuguese furniture in global markets, reinforcing its reputation for quality and design.
Jorge Castro, Vice President of AEPF, adds:
“Four decades after the birth of Capital do Móvel, we continue to raise the standards of excellence and expand the brand’s reach, bringing the best of Portuguese furniture beyond borders.”
The furniture sector plays a key role in the economy of the Paços de Ferreira region, encompassing an industrial area of 150 hectares and accounting for 60% of the municipality’s exports. Nationally, the sector includes 4,487 companies and employs over 36,000 people. Last year, for the first time, exports surpassed 2 billion euros in sales.
The 62nd edition of Capital do Móvel is free to attend and promises to be a gathering point for industry professionals, design enthusiasts, and the general public.
